Dear Reader,

Thank you for visiting the Valley Unveiled website! We are a student-run organization that aims to give Chenango Valley students an opportunity to discuss real-world issues that they’re passionate about. The first edition in spring 2023 was created through the pilot of Happy Medium’s High School Magazine Development Program. Happy Medium is a student-run, nonpartisan political publishing group at Binghamton University. We aim to continue publishing Valley Unveiled as a semesterly magazine and plan on offering membership to all Chenango Valley High School students who are interested in writing and passionate about issues in the world around them. Students will be able to attend workshops designed to teach this style of writing, run by our student leaders and undergraduate students from Binghamton University. We’ve worked hard to immerse ourselves in the world of ethical journalism and learn how to create a space for all views to discuss politics and other issues in a productive and respectful way, and we’re proud to share all of our passion and hard work with you. Every article featured in this paper was written by students here at CV, and it’s been a place where people use their voices to be heard throughout the entirety of our school.

We want to take a moment to thank Trevor Fornara and Amanda Escotto from Happy Medium for guiding us through learning a new style of writing; it’s been an incredibly enriching and enjoyable process to learn. As the editors, we also want to thank them for teaching us about the world of copy editing and helping to establish a program that will last at our school for years to come. Thank you to the Chenango Valley administration and our faculty advisor Mrs. Schoonmaker for helping this program come to life.
